A small workshop, an old pattern.
L'Oudhé makes scented candles by hand, in small batches, in Holland.
Everything is poured from a coco-soy blend. It burns cooler and slower than paraffin and lets the scent out gradually, so there is still something there in the last hour. Every candle is vegan and paraffin-free. Nothing of animal origin goes into the wax, the wick or the scent.

The star under your thumb.
Run your thumb over the lid before you take it off. That eight-point star is zellige, the tilework you find on courtyards and around fountains all over Morocco: thousands of small glazed pieces, cut by hand, laid so that no line ever quite ends.
We had it milled into the wood instead of printed on it. Zellige is made, not stuck on. It is the one bit of ornament we allow ourselves. Everything else, on the box and on this page, is set out on the same geometry. Quietly, and you only find it if you go looking.
How it is made.
We pour in small batches. That means the wax goes into the jar at the right temperature rather than the convenient one, and that a batch can be set aside when it is not right. Every candle holds 280 g and burns for around forty-five hours. The glass is matte, the lid is solid wood, and both outlast the wax inside them.
Two brothers.
One spent ten years in Dubai as a geotechnical engineer. That is where oudh stopped being something from back home and became the thing he could not stop thinking about. The other did a PhD in dermatology and was already making soap and candles at the kitchen table.
Oudh on its own is a lot. Deep, resinous, and it fills a room whether you asked it to or not. So rather than making oudh candles, they built scents around it: softer, more modern, with the oudh sitting underneath instead of out in front. That is the thread running through both candles.
It started the way these things start, with friends, and then a market stall. People kept asking for more. Both brothers still have full-time careers, so the batches stay small and the pouring happens around everything else. That is where L’Oudhé is now, and it is not finished.
